Vision & History

Vision:

The company slogan is "wear blessed to be a blessing!" The idea behind it is that the customer not only makes himself happy by buying a blessed product, but also becomes a blessing for others. The clothes are manufactured under fair conditions throughout the production chain (from cultivation to processing and production). In addition, at least 10 percent of the company's profits flow into social development projects in the third world. Since 2014, the money has mainly gone to the Blessed Foundation, which made it possible to build a school in Bangladesh and is responsible for its continued operation and expansion. Investing in children's education is extremely important so that they can have professional prospects and break out of the vicious circle of poverty. Furthermore, Blessed donates many clothes to people in need or to projects in the third world.

Story

Once upon a time there were two boys! ...both knew each other from church and wanted to print cool and fashionable clothes for their own use without knowing about the other. The fascination of textiles with their own design elements was huge and, due to the demand from their circle of friends, they decided to bring their own small label to the friends. Both realized that you can't just carry out a project like this on your own. One day they joined forces and told each other that together they could achieve much more than alone! The first T-shirts were printed in the simplest way and passed on cheaply to friends. Later, an in-house screen printing machine was purchased so that the editions could be printed professionally and in good quality. But the longer the two realized that many people outside their circle of friends were interested in their idea. The demand for the textiles was increasing and the quality of the products had to increase as a result. The two founders soon parted ways. One of the two would rather only make smaller editions of his designs himself and Simon Georg dreamed of his own large clothing brand.

So, in 2004, after weighing the pros and cons for a long time, Simon Georg decided to develop his own label. Many clarifications were made and two years later the time had come: the brand "blessed" was created. In order for blessed to be a profitable clothing brand, manufacturing had to be moved abroad. In 2006 the time had come: the first T-shirts were manufactured in India under fair trade conditions. The quality of clothes improved enormously. From this point on, error-free production could be guaranteed thanks to high quality controls!

In 2008 Simon Georg decided to invest his free time in blessed. He ended his beach volleyball career despite first-class performances, such as the junior Swiss championship title and great future prospects. This was the moment when blessed really took off. A large summer 2009 collection was realized, the cooperation with Max Havelaar was started and in May 2009 blessed GmbH was founded.

From this point on, the clothes were produced in around 12 different, modern production facilities in the East. Cotton products come from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, sporting goods and technical clothing from China, leather goods from Pakistan and the large editions of cotton products are produced in Mauritius and India in FLO-certified factories under the supervision of employees of the Max Havelaar Fairtrade seal of approval.

In 2010 the blessed brand store was opened in the heart of the city of Biel. In it was not only the shop of the brand, but also the workplaces (offices) of the employees and helpers, the entire warehouse and a bar with a lounge where many events took place and parties were celebrated.

In the summer of 2011, a second brand store was established in the city of Bern for around three years. Furthermore, the "Blessed - Bistro Shop and More" in Thun was opened by a few young adults from EFG Thun and renamed "LIO'S Café" after about a year.

Since the demands for professionalism, quality and fast delivery have steadily increased and the online shop has become increasingly popular, it was expanded significantly in 2016. For this purpose, the warehouse logistics were outsourced and have since been professionally handled by GEWA (a foundation for professional integration) in Zollikofen. In this way, too, we can become a blessing to people. Today, Blessed GmbH sells most of its products through its own online shop.

The previous success has not only been boosted thanks to the many events, but also the Internet (Facebook, Instagram & Co.) and our huge fan base have made a major contribution.
